What makes faux flowers more sustainable than fresh?
1. Long-lasting and re-usable - When cared for, faux flowers can last indefinitely, compared to fresh flowers that don't last more than a week or two. Our artificial blooms can be re-used across a multitude of events and seasons, reducing the amount of waste, as well as the need for repeated production and transport.
2. Low carbon footprint - Fresh flowers are often grown overseas and flown or driven long distances under refrigerated conditions that consume a lot of fuel. Although our faux flowers are also imported, they are transported once for long-term use, lowering the per-use emissions significantly.
3. No pesticides or fertilisers - Fresh flower farming often involves heavy pesticide and fertiliser use that harms soil and water ecosystems. Our artificial blooms do not require any such chemicals, reducing agricultural environmental impacts.
4. Less water usage and organic waste - To grow fresh flowers, a large amount of fresh water is required, especially in warmer climates. The production of our faux flowers need no irrigation, making them more water-efficient. Once wilted, fresh flowers become organic waste and, if not composted correctly, can contribute to methane emissions in landfill. If artificial flowers are reused, they will generate less waste over time.
