There's a lot more to a beautiful Christmas tree than meets the eye. Before it ever reaches your living room, every Floralsilk tree passes through dozens of careful hands and processes - each one designed to bring you a tree that looks, and feels, remarkably real. Here's a peek behind the scenes at how we bring the magic of Christmas to life.
Every great tree begins with the right foundation. Our branches and needles are crafted from two key materials: PE (polyethylene) and PVC.
PE needles are moulded rather than cut, giving them a rounded, lifelike texture that mimics real pine. Colour and fire-retardant properties are blended in before moulding, so the finish is part of the material itself.
PVC needles are prized for their fine, feathery texture and natural drape. PVC is inherently fire-resistant, and our needles come in a variety of styles. From soft, standard tips to elegant long needles and delicate needle-blossom detailing, every tree has its own distinct character.
The trunk and branches themselves are built on a sturdy iron frame, with branch wire crafted from iron or memory steel wire (depending on the tree's design), giving you the flexibility to style your branches exactly how you like them, year after year.
PE needles are injection-moulded into shape and this is where the artistry really begins. From a single tip to a full 7-fork cluster, each one is designed to catch the light and cast a realistic shadow just like a real pine needle.
PVC needles take a different journey. Fine PVC film is precisely cut to width, then fed through a pulling machine that shapes each needle before it's carefully finished by hand at the tip. These are the small details that give our trees their soft, natural silhouette.
Once the needles are ready, they're tied onto the branch wire in careful clusters, building up the fullness you see in the finished tree. Depending on the tree's design, branches are then either:

If your tree comes pre-lit, every single string of lights is switched on and tested during assembly to check not just for function, but also to assess the density and warmth of the glow across the whole tree. It's a small step that makes a big difference to how magical your tree looks once it's switched on at home.
Some of our trees receive a final flocking process, dusting branches with a soft, snow-like finish for that frosted, just-been-outside look. Every tree is then carefully packaged to arrive in pristine condition, ready to be unwrapped and enjoyed.
