Sunflower Season, All Year Round

Published: 20/07/2026

Sunflowers are at their best during the warmer months. They usually come into flower from the start of August, with later planted crops seeing their blooms last well into September. For this reason, sunflowers are usually considered a summer staple in many gardens across the UK, with many households turning sunflower growing into a fun family activity that all ages can enjoy.

How Long Do Sunflowers Last?

Sunflowers require regular deadheading during their blooming season to prolong their flowering time. As with all flowers (especially cut stems in a vase), Sunflowers will wilt and droop in a matter of weeks, which is why artificial sunflowers are the ideal (and pollen-free) alternative. With artificial sunflowers you can enjoy their golden petals throughout the year; great news if you love them as much as we do!

How To Style Sunflowers In Your Home

Sunflowers make a striking statement, whether styled with complementary flowers and foliage or displayed on their own.  Their generous blooms and warm, yellow and brown tones bring a sunny cheerfulness to a room.  Just two or three sunflower stems on their own, styled in the right vase can create a dramatic impact.

Our Artificial Sunflower stems measure 71cm and our Faux Sunflower Spray Stem reaches 92cm, making them ideally suited to taller vases, such as our – Mia Aged Stone Vase (38cm). Don’t forget that you can bend or cut your flower stem to suit your vase though. Ceramic vases in neutral colours work well to keep the attention focused on the flower itself. For an effortless, cottage kitchen feel, our Artificial Sunflowers In Large Jug is professionally arranged and set in resin to keep your florals perfectly in place, and includes realistic closed buds as well as bright, open flowers.

For a simple arrangement, Sunflowers pair well with greenery such as our faux eucalyptus and faux enkianthus, or simple lime greens and whites. For a ready made sunflower bouquet, our Faux-Sunflower & Wild Cosmos bouquet contrasts bright yellow sunflowers with delicate white florals and leafy eucalyptus. Alternatively, if you like a bolder flower mix, we love to complement Sunflowers with blues and lilacs as we have done with our Faux Sunflower Mix in Vase.

Sunflowers In Spring & Autumn

Artificial sunflowers aren’t solely for the summer months – it would be a shame not to display these well-loved stems the whole year round. Sunflowers also pair well with autumnal florals, berries and leaves, effortlessly bridging the two seasons and prolonging summer florals into the cooler months. Our new Faux Sunflower & Pumpkin Wreath combines summery sunflowers with autumn foliage and berries (as well as miniature pumpkins!) to brighten up your doorway when the blooms in your garden start to fade.

Faux Sunflowers also pair well with spring wildflowers – dainty stems such as artificial gypsophila and wild daisies add beautiful accents to a bouquet without drawing attention away from the star of the show.
