When Should You Change Your Wreath? A Seasonal Decorating Calendar

Published: 27/03/2026

Once, wreaths for your door were confined to Christmas wreaths alone – but that’s certainly not the case any longer. Changing your wreath every season is one of the simplest ways to refresh your décor.

Why do you need a wreath?

Adding a seasonal wreath to your door has become a favourite of style-conscious individuals. No longer just a moment of Christmas festivities, a wreath on your door is an almost effortless alteration that keeps your home looking fresh. With artificial flowers, it’s even easier to enjoy seasonal looks that are long lasting, well-styled, and effortless.

When Should you Change your Wreath, and What to? A Seasonal Guide

Spring Wreaths

It may still be cold outside, but once the Christmas wreath comes down, it’s an opportunity to look forward to spring. Spring is a time of renewal, so consider colours that stand out against a door, as a welcome contrast to the darker colours of winter that precede it.

Look for designs with:

  • Fresh looking greens
  • Soft pastels or light neutrals
  • Bright seasonal flowers

One of our favourites here is the Faux Tulip Wreath, which welcomes in the season with Spring flowers.

When to change to a Spring Wreath: As soon as your Christmas wreath has been removed, there’s no reason not to invite spring in. Expect to swap to a spring wreath in January.

Easter Wreaths

Easter represents a chance to add an element of fun and playfulness into your décor, whether bold and bright or soft and subtle. From gentle pastel coloured designs with Easter eggs to rabbit-shaped wreaths, there’s something to suit your home. Alternatively, adapt your spring wreath by adding small decorative elements – our clip-on birds have always been a popular choice for this.

We love mixing the Easter feeling with our signature artificial florals, so we combine green stems with matching decorative speckled eggs.

There’s also a matching easter garland if you want to complete the look.

When to Change to an Easter Wreath: In the weeks leading up to Easter, or earlier in spring for a longer transition.

Summer Wreaths

Summer wreaths bring with them a full-of-life feeling, with bright colours and vibrancy. This is the time to enjoy fuller blooms, and with faux flowers these needn’t be limited by the seasons – meaning you can enjoy florals like peonies all year round.

That’s one of the reasons we love our Deluxe Faux Peony Wreath so much – a beautiful symbol of the season, and one you can enjoy until autumn begins…

When to change to a Summer Wreath: Once Easter has ended, switch up your Easter wreath for a summer one.

Autumn Wreaths

Autumn wreaths are a beautiful way to embrace the rich, earthy colours that come with the new season. From the rusty colours of berries and foliage to the golden blooms, reflecting these in wreaths makes for a cosy and inviting entrance, and a true celebration of the season.

We particularly love our Faux Sunflower & Pumpkin Wreath. It’s not just vibrant, filled with bright sunflowers and foliage, but it also contains pumpkins and gourds – symbols of the season, and a nod to Halloween in a more subtle way. It’s rustic but elegant, exactly how you want your home to be shown to potential guests.

When to change to an Autumn Wreath: From around September onwards, or as the leaves begin to change with the season.

Christmas Wreaths

The classic Christmas Wreath is the timeless favourite, and the most common time of year to see them hung. Here, matching your interior décor is a common approach, giving you the opportunity to embrace new colours and textures.

For a versatile approach, winter-led wreaths with traditional foliage can be styled before and after Christmas, needing only small accents to lean into Christmas itself, which can be removed afterwards to extend the wreath’s relevancy throughout the colder months.

We love our Faux Hemsley Foliage Wreath, which feels winter-led, without being overly Christmas – which allows us to enjoy it for even longer.

When to put up your Christmas Wreath: Alongside your Christmas décor, if not a little before. We tend to opt for early December, for the best chance to enjoy it for the longest.

How to Choose the Right Wreath for your home

Think about how your wreath might complement your homes exterior, or how it might hint to the décor within the home itself.

  • Door Colour: For darker doors, use lighter wreaths so that the colours and textures stand out, or use complementing colours for a cohesive look.
  • Size and scale: Match the size of your door to the comparative size of the wreath, and if your door is an unusual shape or texture, consider this in your wreath choice
  • Style of home: if your home is particularly traditional, often detailed floral or foliage wreaths match the aesthetic, whereby simple more structured designs suit the contemporary look.

Effortless Styling with Faux Wreaths

A simple opportunity to maintain a beautifully styled home, wreaths can be displayed in advance, stored easily, used season after season and need almost no maintenance.

For a simple, effective seasonal refresh, updating your wreath is a small but meaningful method.
