What is Peony Season?
Peonies are some of the nation’s favourite flowers, with big blousy blooms in gentle colours. They’ve become a symbol of romance and beauty, but can only be found within a very small window of conditions.
When is Peony Season 2026?
Peony season in the UK is generally from late Spring to early Summer, equating to mid-May towards early July. There are different variants, with early bloomers being available around May, and the traditional, often pale pink and white peony variants blooming shortly after. Peony season is not exact however, and changes in climate can influence when blooms begin. Given a temperate climate of Spring for 2026, we’ll likely see them slightly earlier than 2025.
How can I get Peonies outside of the season?
For fresh peonies, out-of-season variants do exist in small numbers, or it is possible to import blooms from overseas where conditions meet the Peonies exacting requirements. However, these still provide only a short period of enjoyment before requiring replacement once again.
The alternative is to opt for realistic artificial flowers.
